Towards the end of last year we where grant aided €2.500 from Boyle Municipal District funding. Thanks for the capital grant, we think we’ve made the besto f it.
With this money we purchased 10 gazebos in a variety of colours and 7 foldup tables.
These items will be used to facilitate our food and craft stalls this year and other events during the year.
Annual Rooskey Duck Race is back on 1st April (Easter Sunday 1:30). A really popular event with young and old, come down and enjoy the quack,

Thanks to all who took part in our St Patricks Day festivities, the parade was a great success, and we had a draw as a fundraiser. Thanks everyone

At our AGM it was suggested that the perception is has it that the festival committee has lots of money, well to be blunt about it, we don’t. 😕
Our festival cost nearly €30,000 to run last year and all of this money was received through sponsorship, donations, grant aid and fundraising events.
I can hear you asking how?
How does a small community festival cost so much and here briefly is the answer.
Barn €8000 / Insurance €1300 / Toilets €1500 / Kiddies events €4000 / Sound €1000 / Music €7000 / Advertising €2000
And sundries makes up the rest.
All these figures are available for anyone to see if your interested after all we are aware that everyone of you who buys a duck, a raffle ticket or pays into the Barn is supporting us in our endeavour to do something positive for Rooskey.
We are working tirelessly behind the scenes to do our bit for the community we live in and we feel that as a group of volunteers we are doing OK.
We ended last years festival with a small amount of funding ( approx €4,500) in our kitty and we have all ready paid our deposit of €2000 for the Barn.
The RHF was never about making profit, it was established to bring something positive to our community at large and to give us the residents a pride of place and we think we do a good job on this.
Positive things appear to be starting for our village with the development of a playground, the harbour getting some work done and maybe even the hotel reopening.
The RHF committee are delighted to play a small part in all this progress and long may it continue.
We also want to thank you guys for your support to date and hopefully your support into the future.

(b) it’s nice to know who is running the festival.😀
Again we are always on the look out for help so if ye have it in your mind to get involved either in a small way or big we would love to hear from you. Everyone is welcome.
So come on Ireland in the Rugby, Enjoy the parade after and finally rumour has it there is music in the local public houses on the night.
