At our AGM it was suggested that the perception is has it that the festival committee has lots of money, well to be blunt about it, we don’t. 😕
Our festival cost nearly €30,000 to run last year and all of this money was received through sponsorship, donations, grant aid and fundraising events.
I can hear you asking how?
How does a small community festival cost so much and here briefly is the answer.
Barn €8000 / Insurance €1300 / Toilets €1500 / Kiddies events €4000 / Sound €1000 / Music €7000 / Advertising €2000
And sundries makes up the rest.
All these figures are available for anyone to see if your interested after all we are aware that everyone of you who buys a duck, a raffle ticket or pays into the Barn is supporting us in our endeavour to do something positive for Rooskey.
We are working tirelessly behind the scenes to do our bit for the community we live in and we feel that as a group of volunteers we are doing OK.
We ended last years festival with a small amount of funding ( approx €4,500) in our kitty and we have all ready paid our deposit of €2000 for the Barn.
The RHF was never about making profit, it was established to bring something positive to our community at large and to give us the residents a pride of place and we think we do a good job on this.
Positive things appear to be starting for our village with the development of a playground, the harbour getting some work done and maybe even the hotel reopening.
The RHF committee are delighted to play a small part in all this progress and long may it continue.
We also want to thank you guys for your support to date and hopefully your support into the future.

The Second Annual Rooskey St Patricks Day Parade
The Rooskey Heritage Festival committee are hosting the second St. Patrick’s Day Parade 🙂 to be held in our beautiful little village.
All community groups, businesses, clubs, associations and individuals are welcome.
We would like to encourage floats to incorporate some music if at all possible. Remember try and incorporate music to your floats and if there’s any local musicians out there that would like to be part of our Parade …. get in touch.
There will be prizes on the day for the bests float etc. 😀

Plans for this years Parade are well underway but we could do with some extra hands.

A hugely enjoyable night was had by all in Coxes Dromod, and a big thanks to all our Roses, their escorts, the sponsors, the judges, the wonderful Brendan Farrell, but especially the great support of the public who came and supported this event.
It was the final fundraiser before the actual Rooskey Heritage Festival, so we really appreciate the time and effort from all.
Each of the ladies were a joy and we had some craic for the evening with them. Each showed themselves to talented, confident young ladies, each performing admirably in front of a large crowd. Brendan Farrell interviewed each, and each then did a ‘bit’, a poem, a song, a demonstration :D. The crowd loved it.
While nobody loses, the judges crowned Matasha Mahady the overall winner. Congrats Natasha, we think your particular
Big thanks to the Kilmore Vintage Club who will hold a car run on Sunday at the Rooskey Heritage Festival.
The vintage run will finish about 1:00 on the day, and many of the cars will be parked up on display for the rest of the afternoon.
The vintage club is a huge supporter of the Rooskey Heritage Festival and had the award winning float our recent St Patricks Day parade.
Fun in The Big Red Barn
We’re kicking of the Rooskey Heritage Festival with what we believe will be a really fun night.
There wil be a great mix of live music, DJ’ing, and ‘live music‘. We’re being posh and calling it ‘Music Madness‘ 🙂
We’re not saying ‘too’ much about it, but it will be compared by Mr Brendan Farrell and there will be plenty of surprise guests.
As well as our surprises, Ronan Nugent will do a DJ set, and we will have live music and craic from The Looney Hoppers.
It’ll be a great start to a great festival.

The Heritage Boat Association are bringing some of their vessels to Rooskey for the Rooskey Heritage Festival. This will give all of us a chance to see how goods where transported up and down the Shannon and other waterways.
For any boat enthusiast or people interested in our heritage this will a huge opportunity to see these wonderful vessels in the flesh.
We want to thank Tom Bailey and all the boat owners who are making their way to Rooskey in July.
They will be at the festival for two days.

The Rooskey Heritage Festival committee are running the second annual Rose Competition on the 30th of June in Cox’s Pub and Steak House Dromod. We are delighted to be hosting this event in Cox’s Pub and Steak House Dromod. Coxes are for the second year our main sponsor for the festival and we really appreaciate their support.
The winner of the competition will be opening our festival in The Big Red Barn on the 28th of July.
This will be our big fundraiser for the festival, tickets will be €10 and it promises to be a great occasion.
